The best books on writing for the big screen

In the spring of 2021, some 400 authors were invited to contribute to a new book recommendation site, Shepherd.com. The site went live that April with 2,000 recommendations, including five from me - plus a welcome plug for my fourth Q&A book, The Art of Screen Adaptation.

Narrowing it down to five titles was a challenge. My final choices included an interview anthology, a screenwriter’s memoir, a director’s reflections on the craft, a producer’s exploration of storytelling, and a published screenplay. Together, they formed my list of the best books on writing for the big screen.
